FLOWER CIRCUS AT SAF AMELIA ISLAND

Greetings from the Show Floor. Three Days, a Lot of Flowers, and One Very Good Convention

We are here. SAF Amelia Island, Florida. The whole Flower Circus team flew in and we have been on the show floor since the first morning, walking every aisle, stopping at every booth that caught our eye, and talking to people we have only ever known from Instagram or a business card.

The SAF convention is one of those events that reminds you how big this industry really is. Growers, florists, wholesalers, breeders, designers, importers. Everyone in the same building at the same time. You turn a corner and you are looking at a variety you have never seen before. You sit down for five minutes and end up in a conversation that changes how you think about something you have been doing for years.

The arrangements this year stopped us in our tracks. Dark, dramatic, full of texture. Nothing safe about any of it.

The competition pieces have been a highlight. Deep burgundy roses paired with black calla lilies, red lilies spilling over the edges of acrylic stands, trailing greenery that looked like it had grown there overnight. On the other end of the floor, booth displays full of lisianthus in greens and pinks and peaches, soft and abundant, the kind of flowers that make you want to stop and just look for a while.

We have been photographing everything, talking to growers about what is coming next season, and writing down more ideas than we will probably ever have time to act on. That is the thing about this event. You leave with your head full.

More updates coming before we even land back home. Stay close.
